Finding Christ Relevant to Every Area of Life

Enlighten One Another about God’s Truth

DDCommunity: Enlighten One Another

Enlighten One Another about God’s Truth

Christians have a responsibility to enlighten one another about God’s Truth. We may do this by admonishing one another, exhorting one another, or having the same mind as one another. Throughout Scripture, we find directions as to how Spirit-led followers should interact with one another. The diversity of “one another” passages teaches us how to live as Christ lived. This continuing series elaborates on a wide range of One Anothers to guide conduct within marriage as well as our relationships with others.

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”

Galatians 2:20 NLT

Admonish One Another

Enlightened by God’s truth, we share His truth with one another as He perfects us by His grace. When we admonish one another, we appeal to others to live richly in Christ’s redemptive process.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Colossians 3:16 ESV

Exhort One Another

We are to exhort each other to become aware of any deception that lurks in the shadows. This daily process of encouragement promotes sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s still small voice.

But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

Hebrews 3:13 ESV

Have the Same Mind

Having the same mind as Christ enables us to live in harmony with each other. Congruent with His truth, we become one with His heart and unified with His body.

Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

Romans 12:16 NLT

All Christians are to live out the One Anothers prescribed in the Bible. But how much more should we live out God’s design in our marriage? Take a few moments to consider whether or not you are fulfilling your obligations to enlighten one another to God’s truth in your marriage and within the body of Christ.
