2025 DDCommunity Bible Study Challenge Focus
Each year, we choose two steps to spiritual maturity to investigate. In 2025, we will especially search for passages that teach us to depend on God (Step 5) and those that teach us about God’s discipline (Step 6).
Our key verses for the year are:
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Psalm 34:8 ESV
Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law.
Psalm 94:12 ESV
Do you just want to laugh out loud when you hear that verse? “Blessed [happy] is anyone you discipline”? “You’ve got to be kidding me, right?” Discipline and happiness don’t seem to be a natural duo! But godly discipline demonstrates love as we are directed to live in submission to Him.
The Old Testament is replete with God’s discipline and teaching methods. He established covenants with His people that clearly articulated the terms of the agreements. He clarified the blessings of obedience and the consequences of rebellion. But over and over again, His people chose to go their own way while disregarding God’s pleas to allow Him to be their Savior, sustainer, and benefactor.
His deep desire was to be in an intimate relationship with the people He set free.
Moreover, I will make My dwelling among you, and My soul will not reject you. I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and I broke your yoke and made you walk erect.
Leviticus 26:11–13 NASB
Repeatedly, we read of the Israelites’ rebellion and disregard for God and His authority.
Listen, heavens, and hear, earth; for the Lord has spoken: “Sons I have raised and brought up, But they have revolted against Me.”
Isaiah 1:2 NASB
But just as often, He disciplined His children to bring them to repentance.
Like the Israelites, when we experience forgiveness of sin and commit our lives to Jesus, He honors our commitment and trains us to walk in His ways. As disciples of Christ, we are discipled, or disciplined, to become Christ-like.
Jesus took our punishment at the cross. Therefore, when I accept His sacrifice on my behalf, punishment for sin is no longer necessary. The discipline I receive is to teach me and train me in the way I should go to become a more effective follower of Christ. Not only does He train me through His words, but the Holy Spirit also takes up residence in my life so that I may more fully know how to walk in His ways and accept His discipline.
What’s the plan for this challenge?
We will be using the ESV translation for our 2025 Bible Study Challenge. And we will be reading it in chronological order following The Bible Recap plan. As you are reading, complete these three connection points:
- God is teaching me He is …
- God is teaching me I am …
- God is teaching me to …
Challenge yourself to complete ONE set of connection points each day. You will be asked to share your statement with the group so that we can all learn and gain a deeper understanding of what God has shown you.
When the path is challenging, it’s great to join others for added support and encouragement. So, we’re inviting you to join us on the journey. We are offering two Zoom discussion groups for ladies. Beginning January 2, 2025, Thursday morning (10:00 – noon EST) and Thursday evening (7:00 – 9:00 EST), groups will process the insights we glean throughout the week.
Feel free to Contact Us to ask any questions you have before you commit!
After you sign up, you will receive an orientation email with additional details and links to supplies.
Join these ladies for the 2025 Bible Study Challenge!
I am so excited about doing the 2025 365-day reading plan using the Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble, but especially to do it with this group of ladies. This is not my first year going through the Bible with these ladies; each year grows sweeter and more meaningful. Sometimes, I’m a super student and come prepared to share all the rabbit holes of information that I have found in my excitement over reading God’s Word through the week with my highlighters and page markers in hand. Other times, I have been beaten up by life’s storms and roll in with my head down and my Bible empty of color and marks from the usual treasure hunting, having done the bare minimum to keep up with the reading (or listen to it) through the week, and it’s hard to even want to join the meeting from my bed of gloom. However, every single time that I feel that way and I join anyway, I leave having been fed and watered by the sweet promises of God’s Word and the gift of a precious community of God-Fearing women that He put here for me to lean on in times like that. We eat and drink to fuel our bodies and minds and maintain our strength. Reading God’s Word, spending time with Him, and then attending a Zoom meeting on Thursdays has now become that level of essential to me. It is the sustenance that helps me stay on track and persevere through life’s challenges. I can’t wait to learn, grow, laugh, and even cry with this group again all the way through 2025!

The Lord answered my prayers by placing me in this Bible study rich with togetherness and sisterhood. I am challenged and encouraged and feel deeply loved. I have space to grow and a place to be pruned. “So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.” -Isaiah 55:11. Consider embarking on our journey through Scripture to see what God desires to accomplish in your life. Watch His purpose succeed in the lives of women from all walks and seasons of life.

I can’t believe it! My decade anniversary to celebrate reading God’s word through in a year is quickly approaching! Ten years of coffee and pages on the daily that have brought peace and perspective on every topic imaginable. Each year a new Bible, a new focus, a new reading plan, a new translation, and often a new commentary on truth. As I contemplate which ESV Bible to choose for 2025, I wanted to extend an invitation to all of you TO JOIN ME! If I can do it, anyone can! This group of women use Zoom to meet and discuss what we have read. Great for folks who like to travel! I’ve met with my friends to discuss God’s word from literally all over the world! No experience required. Biggest overall takeaway for me… I have a Savior who loves me, and everything is gonna be alright. Romans 8:28

I have participated in this Bible study since it started eight years ago. What a blessing!! The more you see, hear, and understand the more you want to see, hear, and understand! Join us and “Taste and see that the Lord is Good”!

As a child and teenager, my favorite verses came from Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” But I had no idea what those two passages would come to mean until I started reading through the Bible in 2023 with this group. These women not only love and study the Word with zeal, but they will pour into your life like nothing you have ever experienced. This will be my third year, and as long as I am breathing on this earth, I will read through the Bible with them every year! Twenty-twenty-five will be epic, I have no doubt!!!

I would have said before 2021 that, yes, I knew the Bible. I could recite all the well-known Bible stories, but in full transparency, I did not know the heart of God or anything about His love for me. This Bible study has taught me how to read the Bible in an intentional way, where I am always in search of God’s heart and His intentional love for me that draws me into deeper intimacy with Him. I did not realize how chaotic my life was until I realized the peace found in connecting my heart with His truth every single day of my life! It’s a super extra bonus to then sit and share together with my sisters in Christ. You will be welcomed here and dearly loved. Please come join us!!
